![]() ![]() ![]() They gave projects the option to block such 3rd party downloads which would not count for the rewards program. Overwolf cracked down on 3rd party apps using their content distribution network without contributing to it a few months ago. Of course, the problem is that you need a program able to read the manifest, and be able to download all of those mods. This is both for legal redistribution reasons (mostly for the app's export feature on private modpacks mod jar files are copyrighted, but a link to the official download isn't), and to correctly distribute points to both the pack and mod authors. It's also worth noting that CurseForge modpack files do not include the mods for the pack, but rather a manifest file for the downloading app to read. FTB does and should be able to download full modpacks hosted on CurseForge too. A good but obnoxious thing is that both of these apps load an instance of the vanilla launcher, rather than having you put your log-in info into a 3rd party's textbox this is how Mojang specifically asked modded apps to handle account verification many years ago.ĬurseForge doesn't have a working Linux version for Minecraft. ![]() The downsides of both are that they can be considered bloated, especially when you consider that they need the Overwolf App too (standalone version WIP, WoW only for now), which is primarally there for the ads (but it is possible to set the apps to fully close themselves and Overwolf when you close the app's window). Due to a complicated history, FTB maintains its own launcher with their own packs (full pack downloads only, no pack creation tools), but they are partnered with Overwolf (current owners of CurseForge) and also participate in that system. The app also has modpack creation tools which makes setting up custom modpacks from mods on CurseForge a breeze. Most mods and modpacks are on, and the way they have things set up means that 70% of the ad revenue they generate (there is a single muted video add in the apps) goes to the mod and pack authors via the CurseForge Rewards Program.
